Fringe & Louboutins

This outfit with the background reminds me of something Carrie would wear in the Sex and the City episode when she goes to Aiden’s country house and she is in heels the entire time baking pies and breaking up fights between him and Mr. Big! I love the top and I am even in love with the similar one that I posted in the outfit details. It is perfect to go with the crop top trend but to not be horribly exposed, it is also an easy top to wear from day to night. I really like the idea of something so “free” like fringe paired with a blazer for structure. The pop of pink in the shoes adds a bit of femininity to the outfit, the crystalized python and six inch heels do not hurt either! Lastly, the necklace from Lionette is a must have in my opinion. It can totally transform an outfit, anything from jeans and a white t-shirt to a ball gown! So moral of this, do not be afraid to take a more “corporate” piece and pair it with something unexpected like fringe or a crop top. Just like in life, the free spirit compliments the person in a suit on the reg, and vice versa!

P.S. I am all moved into my apartment in Chicago for my new job! I am so excited, but now I need to find a photographer in the area. If you live around Chicago and are interested, please message me using the contact form! Thank you. xx

Haute Sneakers

ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageDress: H&M||Jacket: Vintage||Shoes: Nike||Belt: Forever 21||Rings: The Glitter Vault c/o||Beanie: Unknown {Pics by: Kaitlyn Elliott}

So.. something major happened last week during Spring Couture fashion week, specifically at Chanel. Every single look was sent down the runway in tennis shoes! From ball gowns to the classic Chanel suit, every outfit had matching sneakers. We also saw some sneakers down the runway at Dior… so it is safe to say this is a huge trend that we will see throughout the spring, so invest in some cute ones, preferably pastel, to wear outside the gym! After watching all the shows I was inspired to shift to a spring color palette so I mixed and matched the fall plaid with a spring colored dress. This blazer was from my Grammy’O, I stumbled upon it in storage! Seriously, you can find the best pieces in your parents and grandparents closets! Besides a belt to define my waist, I added some rings from The Glitter Vault. I am obsessed with this set! There are only four rings, but it looks like six. I love the ones with the double band because they add so much more drama and they’re adjustable so the styling possibilities are endless. Spring is right around the corner, I wouldn’t say put all your heels up on the shelf, but definitely plan on lots of sneakers and flats this season!

How amazing is this traditional smoking jacket? My Grandpa got it while he was in Hokkaido, Japan during World War II. When he gave it to my mom I fell in love with it instantly and knew I would be borrowing it. With the oversized coat trend in full force, I decided now was the time to wear it. The colors and the details are beyond, you just don’t find quality like this anymore so I am very lucky he passed it down. Since it was my Grandpa’s it was extra oversized so I had to roll up the sleeves. A traditional smoking jacket is worn with the belt tied around your waist, but I didn’t like that so I tied it in my best possible bow in the back. You can do that with any coat or jacket with a belt, it will help define your waist and it is super cute! I obviously wanted the jacket to shine so I wore my favorite basics, my Zara tank top and Seven jeans. Like I said in this blog post, I am totally into just rolling my jeans up once. It is undone but done in a cool “I don’t care” kind of way. This season some of your favorite pieces may be in a relatives attic! Go hunting for them, and wear them because they will always be a special, one of a kind piece with a great history.

Subtly Sexy

ImageDress: ANGL||Jacket: Forever 21||Booties: Steve Madden {Pics by Erik Cervantes}

Los Angeles may be known for their daisy dukes and bikini tops, but there is something subtly sexy about being all covered up. Trust me, I have had this theory confirmed. After eating an enormous amount of dim sum in China town, the last thing I wanted to do was take blog pics in this body conscious dress, but don’t worry, I hiked a mile up a mountain in these booties so I was good to go once we reached the top. The view is unbeatable, you can see Dodgers stadium, downtown Los Angeles and beyond. I kept this look super simple because I personally think it’s sexier that way and lets the clothes speak for themselves. I have always been afraid of not showing off my legs for fear of appearing short, but I have come to find that longer dresses can make me appear taller. It is all about finding the right cut that suits your body. If you think this simple cut is for you, a very similar dress can be found here. I wore my favorite booties and favorite leather jacket, I get a lot of use out of both of these pieces so if you’re on the edge about buying one of these items I say go for it! They totally go with everything and will last for seasons to come.

Stone Cold Fox

Coat: Zara Shoes: Steve Madden Scarf: Abercrombie & Fitch

Literally, I was as frozen as stone. Look at the ground, there are leaves like fall and snow like winter, what is happening? I was so conflicted with this weather situation that I couldn’t decide what to wear. So I put on this coat, booties and the most amazing scarf and went about my day. I was going to be running errands and I decided to make my coat my outfit. It’s easy, chic and super warm. And lets be real, how many times have we seen Kate Middleton sporting a coat as her outfit, if she can do it so can we! So go for it, channel your inner royalty and just be sure to have the proper clothing on underneath… or don’t and surprise your boyfriend! ; )

Stuntin’ Like My Daddy

Like most girls, I have a closet full of clothes and nothing to wear, but here is my secret, shop someone else’s closet! I went into my dad’s closet and found a drawer filled with t-shirts he has had since high school, tucked way in the back I found this amazing burgundy tee. The greatest thing about stealing pieces from dads or boyfriends is there are many ways to wear them! Belt it, tie it, or roll up the sleeves, the options with oversized pieces are almost endless. The keys to styling them are femininity and balance. I added my favorite statement necklace, over the knee boots, and a matching burgundy lip. Fall is the time for oversized things and your favorite fall pieces might be a lot closer and cheaper than you think!

Faux Fur Time

I’d rather go naked than wear fur… but faux fur is totally acceptable! I am obsessed with faux fur vests. They are super comfy and they make me feel really glamorous. This one is my favorite because of the pockets! I usually reserve my glam pieces for a night out, but I kept it casual with combat boots and jeans for an easy daytime look. If you’re on the hunt for a faux fur vest for fall, you can find this one here or an almost identical one for less here. What are your favorite glam pieces for fall?

Dress: 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target Shoes: Lauren Conrad

When the sun is still shining in October it means you are meant to stop and smell the roses… or the yellow flowers behind the DMV. When 3.1 Phillip Lim collaborated with Target I fell in love with most of his stuff but I fell hard for this sweater dress, it is so effortlessly chic and is easier to throw on than a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. I added a berry red lip to glam it up a bit because who doesn’t wear red lips to the DMV!?
