Ice Cream, Chic, & Cheap

I am obsessed with this outfit because minus the jewelry and shoes it only costs thirty-five dollars! Everyone has some pair of tennis shoes and some jewelry, so throw it on and call it a day. Target really does have some awesome finds, like this cobalt blue skirt that I bought for fifteen dollars when I first moved to LA and was broke as a joke, and I still do not underestimate Target. It is kind of amazing! Then the tank from Zara I got on sale in Paris, I actually bought two in separate colors because I love it so much. Then this jacket, I cannot even explain to you what an amazing find this is! A vintage stand at the Hollywood farmer market ages ago, and it was TEN DOLLARS! There is no brand, no anything in the tag, but it is absolutely beautiful and I am so happy I snagged it. I stumbled into a resale shop yesterday in Chicago and found some amazing things and it just goes to show sometimes it is more fun to take the time to search through racks of vintage to find the one special piece that no one has than it is to search through every rack at Forever 21 to find the thing that everyone in the world can get! Simply saying, do not underestimate the value of a good resale shop.

B is for Boxcar

I have successfully survived my first week in Chicago without dying or having some sort of breakdown, so thats good! After a weekend that included a fabulous rooftop bar, a first date, and being a dancing queen at a club, this outfit is perfect for a low key day in the city. Flats for walking, a jacket incase it gets cold, along with a button down which always looks sophisticated and is a very easy piece to wear. A varsity jacket is definitely something to have in your closet for spring. The great thing about them is they are so versatile, you can tone down a really fancy dress by throwing one on or add it to your button down for a sporty feel. I found this one downtown in NYC at one of those like kind of trashy stores… ha, but I had to get it, it was like only twenty dollars! The things you can find if you stumble into the unknown. So this summer when you are traveling, plan your outfits accordingly. It is so easy to be comfortable and fashionable when walking around a city beyond yoga pants, you can do it, I promise.

How To: Conquer the Walk of Shame

ImageImageImageImageImageSlip: Victoria’s Secret similar here||Sweater: H&M||Bra: Hanky Panky similar here||Shoes: Birkenstocks||Sunglasses: Forever 21 similar here {Shot by: Kaitlyn Elliott}

As I sit here typing this, I must give you a full disclaimer, I’ve never had a walk of shame, but I have thought about it.. just incase. So, this is what I came up with. I know one doesn’t necessarily carry a nightie around with them, but this is for the ladies who like to sleep at their boyfriends, sex friend, or whatever’s, house unexpectedly, but have a coffee date with the girls the next morning with no clothes to wear. Voila! Take your nightie, steal your boyfriend sweater and personally I say go for the Birkenstocks, preferably yours, or any other shoe that will tone down a nightie. If none of this is around option two is very Carrie Bradshaw, steal his work shirt, turn it into a dress, and tie his belt around your waist. I was at a store in Paris and the lady tied a belt around my waist and it changed my life. If anything, leave your own house wearing this morning after chic outfit and let everyone wonder how and why you look so fabulous! They’ll envy it. Promise!

Fringe & Louboutins

This outfit with the background reminds me of something Carrie would wear in the Sex and the City episode when she goes to Aiden’s country house and she is in heels the entire time baking pies and breaking up fights between him and Mr. Big! I love the top and I am even in love with the similar one that I posted in the outfit details. It is perfect to go with the crop top trend but to not be horribly exposed, it is also an easy top to wear from day to night. I really like the idea of something so “free” like fringe paired with a blazer for structure. The pop of pink in the shoes adds a bit of femininity to the outfit, the crystalized python and six inch heels do not hurt either! Lastly, the necklace from Lionette is a must have in my opinion. It can totally transform an outfit, anything from jeans and a white t-shirt to a ball gown! So moral of this, do not be afraid to take a more “corporate” piece and pair it with something unexpected like fringe or a crop top. Just like in life, the free spirit compliments the person in a suit on the reg, and vice versa!

P.S. I am all moved into my apartment in Chicago for my new job! I am so excited, but now I need to find a photographer in the area. If you live around Chicago and are interested, please message me using the contact form! Thank you. xx

Peter Pilotto Picked A Peck Of Prints

ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageTop: Peter Pilotto for Target on major clearance||Skirt: Peter Pilotto for Target on clearance too||Shoes: ASOS||Bracelet: Vintage {Shot by: Samira Anbar}

Finally, it is nice enough out to wear this skirt, it has been sitting in my closet for months! I usually stay away from prints and things that are too busy for fear of looking like a crazy person, but when I tried this on together in the dressing room I loved it! I think that is the glory of this particular collection for Target, everything mixed and matched well even though everything had a print of some kind on it. Mixing prints is definitely a tricky thing, but thats the fun of it! Here are some tips for mixing prints:

1. Stripes are now a neutral, they can go with florals, polka dots, or even other stripes!

2. Be sure the prints you are mixing have the same color shade in each piece, my repeating color is obviously black and white, however I would rarely suggest black and white being your main colors when mixing, because you could end up looking like a zebra. The colors in the top are actually what tied this particular look together!

3. The sizing of the mixed prints. Big repeated patterns should be paired with small repeating patterns. I love the big geometric pattern on the back of the skirt, with the smaller details on the wrap of it. When mixed with the top where the stripes are medium sized compared to the rest of the outfit, it just seems to work.

4. Do not be afraid to break all the rules, if you think it looks good then it probably does! Some fun combinations to try are stripes with florals, animal print with chevron, art deco with water color, the possibilities are endless.

Okay, since I am wearing a designer collaboration it is only appropriate to talk about the next major collab. This will be the best one yet in my opinion, Alexander Wang x H&M. Ohmigod, seriously start saving your pennies. They let the word out at the H&M party at Coachella last weekend, they also released a video on Instagram that has a scoreboard to announce the November 6th release date, so the collection will probably have a sporty feel. Which totally makes sense since he is the first American designer to collaborate with H&M. I am definitely looking forward to getting my hands on an awesome bag, you know he will not put his name on a t-shirt that is not impeccably designed with a magnificent fabric, and just some all around cool lifestyle pieces. So excited!

Three Shades of Grey

ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageT-shirt: Topshop||Jeans: Seven For All Mankind, same cut different wash here||Shoes: Topshop||Ring: an old gift||Bracelet: unknown {Shot by: Miriam Taylor}

This outfit does not come with its very own Christian Grey, even though I really wish it did. I will find you one day sir. So, I am in Chicago working at their market week and I am having so much fun, learning so much, and am exhausted, so this will be short. This outfit was inspired by Kim Kardashian. In my opinion her style has been outstanding lately, you must admit Kanye is an awesome stylist. Well, she has worn head to toe grey a couple times over the past few months and a lot of high-waisted things with cropped tees. I love one color head to toe, and grey is a fun neutral that will flatter anyone but is more interesting than black. Give it a try with any color, keep it casual, and I am sure it will look wonderful!

I am rocking a lot of trends today; a midi, strappy shoe, pastel leather, crop top, and a sporty situation. I am a walking spring trend billboard. I try to stick to one trend at a time but whatever, rules are meant to be broken and I like my outfit. It is very clear that crop tops are major on the fashion scene. I know myself, and I probably will not be buying a lot of crop tops, but I still want to be involved in the trend, so I just tied up a t-shirt. I tied it in the back because I knew I would keep my jacket on, but tying it up in the front works too. It is super easy, really casual, and still fun. If you do not care too much about the tee just cut it, I might do that to a few of mine, but not this one, it is way too comfy. That is the sporty situation of my outfit, now onto the moto jacket. Ohmigod, it is kind of amazing. I told you guys this spring I was going to amp up my pastels, this was my first… okay second, well third, pastel purchase (my first was a the blazer from this post and then pastel skaters). This jacket is a great transition piece and also as I was getting my coffee the other day the lady told me that this summer is going to be unnaturally colder than usual. She seemed like she knew what she was talking about, so good thing I have this jacket!

P.S. Happy birthday to my little sister Madison. Love you too much. xx

Kiss Me, I’m Irish

ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageDress: Kohls||Blazer: H&M similar on major sale here||Belt: Nasty Gal similar here||Shoes: ASOS similar here||Ring: Vintage {Pics by: Samira Anbar}

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! I really am a bit Irish. You better be wearing green today, this is like the only green thing I own, despite it being my second favorite color. I fell in love with the neon green against the navy blue, it is an unexpected and fresh twist. Then to mix it up even more I wore black heels, to tie in the black lace on the blazer, a cheetah belt, because cheetah is a neutral, and pink lips for fun! I love bright, bold colors, but as I get older it gets scary to wear them for fear of looking obnoxious, but whatever Anna Dello Russo does it so I can too! If you don’t know who she is google her, she is major. I think this color combination is pretty fab, what is the point of fashion if you aren’t having a bit of fun with it? Beyond the clothes, notice anything different? I cut my hair.. into a “lob,” formally called a long bob. I haven’t cut my hair into a “trendy” cut like ever, so I decided it was time for a change and went for it. I hope everyone had a great St. Patty’s weekend and drank too much green beer. I’m off to Chicago for the day.. maybe I’ll have my first green beer ever?!

Comfy, Cozy, Cool

ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageFaux fur vest: Zara similar here||Jeans: Zara similar on sale||Shoes: ASOS||Belt: H&M||Ring: Vintage {Pics by: Samira Anbar}

After a tiring, but fun, weekend with friends, I was just in the mood to be cozy. In my opinion, nothing is more comfortable than sweatshirts, boyfriend jeans, and fur, so I decided to wear it all, with comfortable heels of course. Fashion has been shifting into a more relaxed vibe which makes it fun to dress up more casual, everyday pieces like a college or sports team sweatshirt mixed with glam pieces such as faux fur or heels. It keeps things interesting and comfortable for a really chill, but fun, daytime look. Fall RTW (ready-to-wear) shows began this month. The first fashion week was in NYC, then London, Milan, and now Paris. For a fashion nerd like me, it is so inspiring and exciting to watch all the shows! Anyway, my tip to you as spring nears is do not be afraid to stock up on pastels. I know, pastels for spring… groundbreaking. However, a lot of designers showed a lighter palette for fall, especially in shades of pink and purple. As long as you buy classic pieces such as blazers, tailored pants, skirts and dresses that come in great, clean cuts and a lasting fabric it will be easy to be on trend during spring and throughout fall without breaking the bank for both seasons!

Playful Peter Pilotto

ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageButton Down: Forever 21||Top: Peter Pilotto for Target||Jacket: Forever 21 similar here||Pants: Express||Shoes: ASOS {Pics by: Samira Anbar}

Peter Pilotto for Target is here, well it has been here since February 9th, and is unfortunately almost sold out in stores, online and on Net-A-Porter.com for my readers outside the United States. However, if you find anything I suggest you buy it because I have a feeling this fabulous British designer is going to get even bigger than he already is, and it is always nice to own a little piece of luxury! True to form and as expected, the collection is filled with bright colors, mixed patterns, and preppy cuts, which definitely pushes me out of my comfort zone, but I had to invest. It is freezing, if you did not notice the snow, so I layered a button down under my amazing new top, which made it even more preppy, so naturally I threw on a leather jacket. I am back in my zone. The thing I love about this outfit is nothing I am wearing cost me more than forty dollars. Super chic and cheap, my outfit that is… I feel as if everyone I know is somewhere warm like Florida, Texas or California, so if you are stuck in the cold like me, check out the surf inspired Peter Pilotto collection online or at Target to bring some warmth into your life during this absolutely frigid February!

bisous, Mack.

P.S. Happy early Valentines day! I seriously love Valentines day so much. I just love love! Enjoy it with your boyfriend, girlfriend, friends, family or just yourself… because you should totally love yourself! xx

Red, Red Wine

ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageSkirt: ASOS||Blouse: Forever 21||Coat: Zara||Shoes: ASOS||Rings: The Glitter Vault c/o {Pics by: Kaitlyn Elliott}

Burgundy, oxblood, wine whatever you want to call it, every variation of maroon is my favorite color. I love it so much I even like to wear it on my lips from time to time, even though every man I encounter hates it. Whatever, I don’t care. I’ve said it before, I am super into longer length skirts recently and this one is perfection. I love the pencil style along with the split front, so fab! I wanted to balance out the dark colors so I tied up a sheer, white blouse. Since it was snowing as we took these, I wore my favorite coat for a bit… shocker it’s burgundy! Now to the shoes, they are so cute and on sale! In my opinion, you can never have too many black shoes, and since these are on sale and elongate your legs, I say get them. I kept my accessories minimal, I am seriously obsessed with these rings from The Glitter Vault, so simple and versatile. All the products from TGV are 20% off for Valentines day so be sure to find something for yourself!
