How To: Conquer the Walk of Shame

As I sit here typing this, I must give you a full disclaimer, I’ve never had a walk of shame, but I have thought about it.. just incase. So, this is what I came up with. I know one doesn’t necessarily carry a nightie around with them, but this is for the ladies who like to sleep at their boyfriends, sex friend, or whatever’s, house unexpectedly, but have a coffee date with the girls the next morning with no clothes to wear. Voila! Take your nightie, steal your boyfriend sweater and personally I say go for the Birkenstocks, preferably yours, or any other shoe that will tone down a nightie. If none of this is around option two is very Carrie Bradshaw, steal his work shirt, turn it into a dress, and tie his belt around your waist. I was at a store in Paris and the lady tied a belt around my waist and it changed my life. If anything, leave your own house wearing this morning after chic outfit and let everyone wonder how and why you look so fabulous! They’ll envy it. Promise!

Fringe & Louboutins

This outfit with the background reminds me of something Carrie would wear in the Sex and the City episode when she goes to Aiden’s country house and she is in heels the entire time baking pies and breaking up fights between him and Mr. Big! I love the top and I am even in love with the similar one that I posted in the outfit details. It is perfect to go with the crop top trend but to not be horribly exposed, it is also an easy top to wear from day to night. I really like the idea of something so “free” like fringe paired with a blazer for structure. The pop of pink in the shoes adds a bit of femininity to the outfit, the crystalized python and six inch heels do not hurt either! Lastly, the necklace from Lionette is a must have in my opinion. It can totally transform an outfit, anything from jeans and a white t-shirt to a ball gown! So moral of this, do not be afraid to take a more “corporate” piece and pair it with something unexpected like fringe or a crop top. Just like in life, the free spirit compliments the person in a suit on the reg, and vice versa!

P.S. I am all moved into my apartment in Chicago for my new job! I am so excited, but now I need to find a photographer in the area. If you live around Chicago and are interested, please message me using the contact form! Thank you. xx

Like everyone, I have been obsessed with Beyonce’s album. My favorite song has always been Flawless, so naturally I had to buy a t-shirt with the best phrase ever written, “I woke up like this.” It is funny every time I wear it I get so many compliments on it; even from Grandma’s who probably do not even know that song… and I love that! I must say that this shirt definitely pairs well with these skaters from Topshop. They are definitely one of the best purchases I have made so far for spring, they are only $35 and have a bunch of different color options! So worth it, especially since Celine, Givenchy, and Miu Miu have made some awesome similar shoes that are like 50 times the price! I am lusting for these Miu Miu skaters (I need a size 38 & my birthday is soon). This outfit is definitely representing a bit of the California girl that I still have left in my blood, it comes and goes when it wants. So get your pastel items out of your closet and pair them with your daisy dukes for a cool but sweet, laid back Cali vibe anywhere in the globe!

Take Me To LA

I’m back in the cold and am not happy about it. So to reminence my time spent in slightly warmer California I put together some of my favorite things that I did while I was in LA. These are my absolute musts when in Los Angeles no matter the season.

1. Eat & Drink- Pitfire, In n Out (animal style fries baby), Bosa Nova, Jinkys (for their bottomless mimosas at brunch), Raphael (make sure Nathan is your bartender.. he makes the best and freshest drinks you will ever have), Roccos (for their 2 for 1 happy hour & steamed artichoke), Umami Burger (get the truffle burger), CBS Seafood Restaurant (they have the best dim sum and it is located in China town which is a really cool area), Menchies (it’s cheaper than Pinkberry & you make it yourself), Coffee Bean (obviously they have the best coffee in the world and is so much better and cooler than Starbucks), Sprinkles (if they’re closed you can just go to the cupcake ATM), Chateau Marmont, Urth Caffe & Coles (get the pickled eggs with your drink).

2. Shop- Joy Rich, Fred Segal (it’s a great store to browse and maybe grab a drink at their cafe), Maxfield (insanely gorgeous vintage Chanel, Hermes etc bags, jewelry and so on along with new items from Saint Laurent, Givenchy and up & coming brands), ANGL (I always leave with something fun that I love), Zara (they’re opening up a huge flagship in DTLA), Topshop, Wild Style (it’s more hip hop high fashion.. but it’s still worth a look and maybe a cool t-shirt) & the shops at Space 15 Twenty (they always have cool vintage stands on Sundays where I’ve found amazing shoes & jackets, while other days of the week all the stores are inspired by art and just really cool ideas and designs).

3. What to do- Hike (go to Runyon Canyon, its an easy hike and you’re pretty much guaranteed a celeb sighting.. below James and I are with The Game), The Grove, Melrose Avenue (not only to shop but to see the amazing street art), The Getty, 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica, Rodeo Drive, Universal City Walk, check out Downtown LA (its gorgeous, really cool and sadly underrated), Fly Wheel (we went and got our booties kicked and your first class is free, so why not?), Hollywood Walk of Fame, Grauman’s Chinese Theatre (see all the movie stars handprints in cement… I was reenacting Marilyn Monroe below because gentlemen prefer blondes… duh!), Zuma Beach in Malibu (it’s the most peaceful & gorgeous place in the entire world), and something we didn’t do this time but is a fun thing is to get tickets to a taping of a show!

I hope if you ever visit LA you get to do some of my favorite things… it is definitely worth the visit if you know where to go!

 I always say I wish I could dress like a Saint Laurent Paris ad everyday, so I did my best with what I had in my closet. I am basically in head to toe Zara, which is strongly influenced by SLP. I love the spike details on the shoulder and near the wrists on the blazer, I got this piece about a year and a half ago and it shows making smart investments in unique pieces pays off. The pants have an amazing black floral detail and the draping is done wonderfully, here’s a similar, super cool pair from Topshop. I believe every woman should have a great pair of black pants and a properly tailored blazer in their closet, if you don’t have those get them for yourself for Christmas, you can thank me later. Take those two items and add either a white blouse, or in my case a tank top, a great pair of heels and voila! You’re inspired by SLP, and you will always be in style. This type of look is great for the holiday season, it is classy, sexy and something special other than a party dress. So pull back your hair, put on a bright red lip along with your new wardrobe staples and show yourself off wherever you may go!

Subtly Sexy

ImageDress: ANGL||Jacket: Forever 21||Booties: Steve Madden {Pics by Erik Cervantes}

Los Angeles may be known for their daisy dukes and bikini tops, but there is something subtly sexy about being all covered up. Trust me, I have had this theory confirmed. After eating an enormous amount of dim sum in China town, the last thing I wanted to do was take blog pics in this body conscious dress, but don’t worry, I hiked a mile up a mountain in these booties so I was good to go once we reached the top. The view is unbeatable, you can see Dodgers stadium, downtown Los Angeles and beyond. I kept this look super simple because I personally think it’s sexier that way and lets the clothes speak for themselves. I have always been afraid of not showing off my legs for fear of appearing short, but I have come to find that longer dresses can make me appear taller. It is all about finding the right cut that suits your body. If you think this simple cut is for you, a very similar dress can be found here. I wore my favorite booties and favorite leather jacket, I get a lot of use out of both of these pieces so if you’re on the edge about buying one of these items I say go for it! They totally go with everything and will last for seasons to come.

Santa Monica Sunset

For a day of shopping around freezing Santa Monica I went super comfy and casual. I’ve said before how much I love my boyfriend jeans, I can’t live without them, but I was trying to figure out a fresher way to wear them than the usual two roll cuff. Since it was a little chilly by the beach and I wanted my ankles covered I only cuffed my jeans once, very sloppily I must say, but I absolutely die for it! I think the look is super sexy in the “I just rolled out of bed and my pants happen to be cuffed like this” sort of way. To keep that vibe going I tied up a t-shirt, put on my go to leather jacket and then the most amazing hat to cover my real just rolled out of bed hair. I love the tartan detail weaved throughout the silver chain of the hat, its a very simple way to bring the tartan trend into your wardrobe, and can be found here. I’m enjoying my last sun filled day in LA today, but I have many more LA outfits to come!

Los Angeles I have arrived! After a boozy Sunday funday, I spent Monday shopping on Melrose. The stores are amazing and it is impossible to leave without a little treasure, or at least some cool pictures of the art on the buildings. I headed to this part of town in my little denim shorts, an LA staple no matter what season, along with my favorite blazer. I love the neon details. You can definitely bring your summer neon pieces into fall and winter just be sure to pair them with neutrals to tone them down. The great thing about LA is there are no limits, it is a great city to try new things and find fashion inspiration. So I am off to do just that!
